Service Projects

Our Service Projects in Athens

Morningside is an elderly home just outside Athens. At Morningside, we play Bingo with the elderly. Usually, we play eight or nine games ,and it lasts about an hour. It's really fun to get to know the elderly people, and they are all generally nice and friendly. It's super fun and really enjoyable!

Project safe

A message from Project Heads Bhavi and Lina:

Project Safe is a non-profit organization working to end domestic violence through prevention and educational programs, crisis intervention, ongoing supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and their children, and advocacy systems. When you volunteer here, you will help with the merchandise in the store - from hanging up clothes to dusting off old pottery - all of which the organization is trying to sell to get funds for their cause - domestic violence.

Salvation Army

A message from Project Heads Shreya and Kevin:

The Salvation Army is an international charitable organization where Rotaract Members get the opportunity to serve dinner to people who otherwise do not have the food supplies to nourish and sustain themselves or their family. Generally, volunteering at Salvation Army will last about an hour and an half to two hours.

animal shelter

A message from Project Heads Austin and Tory:

Animal Shelter meets 1-2 times a a week and involves providing an outlet to animals at the shelter regarding their exercise and entertainment; Rotaract members will get the opportunity to play with the animals (dogs and cats) at the shelter in safe, localized gated areas. All of the animals are safe and love a lot of attention!

Roadside clean-up

A message from Project Head Alec Hogan:

Roadside Cleanup is a project at Rotaract that takes time out of our day to clean up the roadside near campus on South Milledge. Volunteering here would include picking up litter and beautifying this very important stretch in Athens!

food Bank

A message from Project Heads Mikayla and Margaret:

The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes food to hunger relief charities. Food banks act as food storage and distribution depots for smaller front line agencies and usually do not themselves give out food directly to people struggling with hunger. By volunteering here, you  will help package many, many bags of food. .

Habitat for humanity

A message from Project Head Delaney:

Habitat for Humanity International, generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat, is an international, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization that helps with the building of houses for people who do not have the means to buy a house. This is not only heavy-duty, outside work; there are a plethora of options that you could do inside, such as paint the inside of the house, sweep the interior floors, and scrubbing bathrooms. What there is to do on a particular house depends on the day and how much of the house is completed. Keep in mind that this is a full day if you volunteer, usually from 8 am to 3 pm! However,  it is so rewarding!
